Water feature for bird watching area

If you have developed a favorite area in your yard for bird watching, a water feature will add to the attractiveness for you and the birds. After developing a plant for constructing a natural rock feature, needing rocks, mortar, pumps, solar panels - and on, I came up with a simpler solution.

Southerlands in Marble Falls has a small water feature called the Arroyo that was only $90 for the complete and ready to run unit ($200 item on the internet).

I put this in the spot that I wanted (without asking the birds) and leveled it. It was plugged into an extension cord with the connections wrapped with electrical tape. Instead of a trench, I used a shovel to lift sections of lawn sod and slipped the cord about 1" under the grass.

Flat stones were free stacked around the Arroyo to break up the straight lines and a log and plants were added to reduce the stark look. The electrical plug-in is in the rocks and accessible for any problems. The top of the Arroyo lifts up for access to the pump.

The birds and squirrels are satisfied, They are in better shape than us with feeders, houses and running water
